The Mental Health Foundation

 

The Mental Health Foundation exists to help people survive, recover from and prevent mental health problems. It is a good resource for aromatherapists specialising in Mental Health work.

Backcare

BackCare  is a registered charity that represents people with back pain, a broad range of health professionals treating back pain, researchers and employers. It has a magazine that includes articles on complementary healthcare approaches to treating back pain.

The Stroke Association

The Stroke Association is the only national charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages. It produces a number of publications including patient leaflets, Stroke News (a quarterly magazine) and information for health professionals.

Bristol Cancer Centre

The Bristol Cancer Help Centre is has pioneered the Bristol Approach to cancer care. This Approach works hand-in-hand with medical treatment, providing a unique combination of physical, emotional and spiritual support using complementary therapies and self-help techniques, including practical advice . Postgraduate training in aromatherapy in cancer care is available at the centre.

Endometriosis SHE Trust (UK)

 

This organisation offers help, information and support to women with endometriosis and everyone else interested, to be able to make informed choices about conventional, nutritional and complementary therapies available.

International Aromatherapy Organisations

The Aromatherapy Registration Council is the body dealing with registration of aromatherapists in the USA & Canada. Their website is www.aromatherapycouncil.org

Skills for Health

The Research Council for Complementary Medicine "CISCOM"

MIDIRS

The Midwives Information & Resource Service is a charitable organisation and a leading source of information relating to childbirth and infancy. MIDIRS Midwifery Digest provides maternity health professionals with an overview of key midwifery and medical research to inform their practice. The information is gathered from over 550 international journals and original articles are commissioned on the hot topics being discussed by the midwifery profession.

The General Regulatory Council for Complementary Therapists (GRCCT)

This is the first federal regulator, which was launched in October 2007. It maintains a regulatory register for multi-disciplined therapists, including aromatherapy and the Aromatherapy Council supplies the Board members to represent our profession.
